Recent Sanctions-related UN Resolutions

31 May 2016 – With Resolution 2290 the Security Council decides to renew until 31 May 2017 the travel and financial sanctions imposed in 2015 with resolution 2206. The mandate of the Panel of Experts is extended until 1 July 2017.

7 April 2016 – With Resolution 2280 the Security Council decides to renew until 1 June 2016 the sanctions imposed in 2015 with resolution 2206. The mandate of the Panel of Experts is extended until 1 July 2016.

2 March 2016 – With Resolution 2271 the Security Council decides to renew until 15 April 2016 the sanctions imposed in 2015 with resolution 2206. The mandate of the Panel of Experts is extended until 15 May 2016. 

3 March 2015 – With Resolution 2206 the Security Council decides to impose targeted sanctions, travel ban and freezing of assets, on individuals and entities obstructing reconciliation or peace processes, undermining the political process or abusing human rights in South Sudan. A Sanctions Committee is established to monitor the implementation of the measures and a Panel of Experts, with a mandate until 2 March 2016, is created.
