The Department's second alumni meeting for participants in its International Training  programs (ITP) took place in Amman, Jordan in February 2019. The meeting was jointly organized with the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation in Uppsala Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation

It brought together 28 alumns from the Department’s Advanced International Program on Conflict Resolution (PACS, a six weeks program), the Top Level Seminar on Peace and Security (TOPS, a ten day seminar) and the International Training on Dialogue and Mediation (ITDM, a ten days conference). The alumns had attended programs during the years 1990-2018 and came from Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Georgia, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestine, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The Department was represented by Helena Grusell, Angela Muvumba Sellström and Peter Wallensteen. The Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation was represented by Sigrid Gruener, Henrik Hammargren and Sarah Smith.

The theme of the meeting was “Strengthening Inclusion and Sustaining Peace”, building on the UN resolutions from 2016. This included experiences from Jordan, current developments in peace research, ongoing projects in the Department and regional challenges in sustaining peace. The meeting led to exchanges of  experiences, and feedback from those that have attended  training at Department. There were also fruitful discussions on how to develop and strengthen the DPCR ITP Alumni Network.

The Department now has 775 former participants from its ITP programs 1988-2018, originally funded by BITS, Sida and most recently by  the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation. The first such meeting took place in Bogota, Colombia in January 2018.
